At the Ryu Yama Kan Dojo, a traditional form of Japanese Bujutsu, known as Yoshin Ryu Bujutsu, is taught by qualified instructors, tested under the most rigorous of circumstances. Jujutsu has been called the gentle art. However this is a poor western translation, of the concept of adaptability, of the principles of Yoshin Ryu to any circumstances or opponents, allowing the practitioners to prevail.

There are five areas of training within the Ryuyamakan Dojo

  • GOHO-NO-KEIKO

  • BUGEI JUHAPPAN (18 MARTIAL ARTS)

  • GENDAI HENKA WAZA (MODERN VARIATION TECHNIQUES)

  • HOJO UNDO (SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING)

  • SEISHIN TEKI KYOYO (SPIRITUAL REFINEMENT)

  • SAMURAI KEIKO (TRADITIONAL SAMURAI STUDIES AND TRAINING)

The concept of jujutsu, only as a defensive art, also is a misconception,
more than likely of the western origin. Yoshin Ryu as a whole is a complete system of martial arts that comprises the use of several smaller and larger weapons commonly and uncommonly used by the Samurai. Yoshin Ryu Bujutsu also uses unarmed striking (punches, kicks, knees, elbows and more), joint manipulations, throws, strangulation techniques, pressure points, and bone breaking to allow the practitioners practical solutions to any situation especially dealing with multiple assailants (fighting more than one opponent).

The techniques of Yoshin Ryu are faithfully taught by the instructors of Ryuyamakan, as they received them, having been passed through the ages and have been verified by these same instructors and students in “real world” applications, where failure meant serious injury or death.

There are no trophies in Yoshin Ryu, and Ryuyamakan does not participate in tournaments or contests where rules and restrictions ignore the importance of these arts and restrict the application of the techniques.

Success and progress are measured in decades here, not trophies or titles. The rewards are measured in the intangibles or increased abilities and victory in many of lives struggles.
